Team Curate, Rev. Shaun Armstrong
I grew up in Birmingham and joined the Police service at 18. A road traffic collision resulted in my career as a police officer end at 25 years old. At this time I was offered a place at the University of Worcester to study a degree in nursing, where I graduated as a Registered Mental Health Nurse. I would then go on and work in a variety of different disciplines within the NHS and private healthcare for over 12 years prior to ordination. I have recently completed 2 years of ordination training as a dispersed learner at Trinity College, Bristol. I was not brought up as a Christian but I'd always felt a call to serve others, so to become a Christian through the grace of God when I wasn't even looking and to receive a call to serve through ordination, is a gift from God that no words can justly describe. I strongly believe that many problems the human race faces today can be solved with the Gospel, with Christ alone, and having the opportunity to be part of a Church that can truly proclaim that message is a privilege which cannot be measured. I arrive in post with my wife Kamila and our 7 year old son, Shay. As a family we enjoy playing and watching sport and are West Bromwich Albion FC supporters, having a season ticket for the last 22 years. We also enjoy motorsport and regularly watch the World Rally Championships. We love the Snowdonia National Park for holidays and being amongst nature, eating out with a good pint of ale and seeing friends and family. I'm really looking forward to joining the Kidderminster Ismere team, being amongst the community and being part of what God is doing here now as well as in the future as I serve curacy.
